It is Monday evening at halftime of the championship football game, so I thought I'd make another entry today.

We awakened early (6 AM) and had coffee and some banana bread, which we had received at church yesterday.  Then it was all about getting things in order in Silver Star.  Lela worked inside and I worked outside pulling all our yard ornaments and other necessities from the truck. I didn't get a picture yet, but I will tomorrow.

We had lunch in our friend's trailer and then headed into town. Teddy needed some parts for his rig and I needed a few items too.

From there we headed to an area near here called Camp Verde. The big draw there is the history of the store.  You can see more about it here:

It is mostly a tourist place with a nice restaurant.

There are a lot of symbols of camels in Camp Verde so we had to ask why.

It seems that the army experimented with camels in the southwest before the Civil War to carry supplies across the desert. You can learn more here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Camp_Verde

We were told that the camp had burned but that there were some outbuildings remaining.  It was not far away so we went exploring.  We didn't find much in the way of structures but there was a marker.

On our way back to camp we found another marker so we checked it out too.

After a stop for groceries, Lela and I fixed dinner for our friends (BBQ pork steaks, baked potatoes, corn and cucumbers). It gave me a chance to use our new Coleman gas grill.  Then it was off to Dairy Queen for mini blizzards.

It was a very good day.  The weather was warmer in the morning than in the afternoon.  The forecast is for improving temperatures.

I haven't unpacked my golf clubs yet, but the time is near.
