March 6, 2017 Monday PM

I was correct on the previous post to say I would be digging in the yard.  Thursday afternoon we planted four different kinds of cactus.  One of the neighbors told us they were "grow or go" cactus, meaning that if they don't grow they have to go. I didn't put drips on these plants as they are supposed to get their own moisture either from the air or ground. (We will see).

Friday Lela went to her class and when she returned we made our second and last trip this year to the Mesa Market and Swap Meet. http://mesamarket.com/

There were two items we wanted to get as we had shopped them in our previous visit there. We bought a sign for the front of the house which reads "Welcome to the Ranch"  and an ornate western flavored mirror for the living room.

Inca Gold, a well known musical group was entertaining the shoppers.

We had hoped  to make a daytrip to Globe, AZ, but we ran out of time after shopping so we stopped at Serrano's Mexican restaurant for late lunch/early supper. Serrano's has become our favorite Mexican restaurant. http://www.serranosaz.com/

Saturday was a day of preparation because Lela had invited a few neighbors for dinner on the party deck.  I BBQed chicken and Lela had all the regular sides (Baked beans, cheesy potatoes and slaw with Angel Food cake and berries for dessert).  I came upon a used Weber Grill in the park for $15 so I grabbed it to cook the chicken.

These neighbors have been very helpful to us in getting settled in the Ranch.

Amber, her husband Larry, Harold and just barely in, Lela

Sunday, we went to our regular worship service at Desert Sands Church of Christ.  Afterwards we just came home and stayed on the couch as the weather was cool and very windy.  I am fighting off a cold and didn't need to be out in the wind.

We are getting new neighbors on the south side of us in the next couple weeks.  They came to measure a few things prior to moving in and Lela went over to talk to them and get acquainted.

Today, Monday, I left at 6:45 for a 7:38 tee time at Johnson Ranch Golf Club. http://www.johnsonranchgc.com/  It is a beautiful desert course.

Loaded up and ready to tee it up

Don't hit it in the desert!

G'pa in his element.

I played With Bruce, John and Dennis.  I didn't play very well carding 49 - 43 for 92 total.  I couldn't seem to "get my mess" together.  I had great fun but could have enjoyed it more if I played better.

Now I am home in the evening nursing my sniffles and cough.  Lela is avoiding me like I have the Plague.  I don't blame her.  If you remember back to last year, she spent the whole month of March on the couch with the flu.
