We have returned from church and Lela is sitting in the sun while I am in the Silver Star watching football. I think I can watch and make an entry at the same time...maybe.
While I entered all this entry Lela and Teddy and Becky have had lunch in the sun, gone to the clubhouse for ice cream, and signed up for catfish on Friday. Now they are all on a walk. It is halftime and I am making a trash run.
On Friday I finally got on the golf course. It is The Flying L Guest Ranch. They have a deal for a monthly membership of which I took advantage. http://flyingl.com/ It is a pretty flat course in winter condition. The greens are good, but fairways are dormant and thin. I played reasonably well and shot 46-46 for 92. I hope to better that next week.
We sat in the sunshine in the afternoon and then walked around the park. We are still amazed at the deer which are not very afraid of us. We walked to the river and back.
This is the Medina River which borders the Park.
These longhorn cattle are penned up but still make for an impressive photo.
In the evening we had dinner at Pap's Italian restaurant. We decided that it was a place we would return to sometime.
We did have a problem in SS after we had gone to bed. Our friend Teddy had some maintenance to do on his unit and was outside when he noticed water running out from under the SS. It was a water filter under our sink in the kitchen. I shut it down and figured to worry about it in the morning.
Saturday morning came and I repaired the water problem. Then we headed into Bandera for the local color.
Bandera County Courthouse
They have a gunfight on the plaza at noon on Saturday and we wanted to see that. It was pretty good, lots of shooting and noise. It was a lot better than we saw in Tombstone AZ in the OK Corral when we were there.
Then the girls led Teddy and me around the local shops. We spent the whole afternoon trailing from shop to shop. Some of it was interesting, and some was not. Teddy and I spent a lot of the time sitting outside on a bench.
Because of the number of curly roads around here, there are a lot of motorcycles here. Bandera is comparable to Grafton IL. It is a good destination for bikers. The people we talked to had the logo on their jackets, LEMC. We felt better when we found out that it stood for Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. We gave a wide berth to the Spanish speaking tattooed guys.
On the way home we went to the Brick House restaurant for dinner.
I wanted to go there because the advertised Liver and Onions. It was delicious. The others turned up their noses at my choice, but it was very good. I think we'll return to the Brick House again before we leave..
