Tuesday Morning

Last summer while we were going through "stuff" at home, we came across a guide book for Route 66.  It is a reprint of a guide from 1946.  Hillard, ( Grandpa John ), had written several comments in the margins in (what else) green ink.  The one I particularly want to share is about the Grand Canyon.  Those who knew Hillard will not be surprised at this comment.

The margin note reads:  "In 1952, I flew a B-29 down in looking up at the rim for about 5 miles.  Great sport and awesome to see.  HEJ Sr.."

We have no particular plans for today, but we may sightsee and check out some of the other parks in the area for next year.

Sunday we went to church and returned to repair the awning.  There was no damage other than the bar I showed you before.  We are back to "normal."

We went to Dave White Golf to hit a few balls and work on chipping and putting. Lela's new driver has turned out to be a great purchase.  She is "killin' it."  After just a couple of times to the range, she is getting a good feel for the course.

Monday morning we went to the park meeting.  (Donuts and coffee while getting all the news.) Lela sat with Bonnie, her friend who lives next to us in a park model, who taught her to make the lanyard she is wearing.

Monday was a great weather day for golf.  Lela was part of a nine hole foursome at Robson Ranch Resort. http://www.robson.com/communities/robson-ranch/golf  Glenn, Nancy, Lois, and Lela played together.  Lela's outing proved to her that she can play as well as any of the women she played with yesterday.  She is quite excited to be playing.  We will continue to work on her improvement.

I had an 18 hole foursome at the same course with Gary, Jerry, and Richard.  Two birdies and five pars for 41-42, 83.  I spent a lot of time in the sand, and did not recover well.  We are having a great time, and are looking forward to playing golf together.

Monday evening is music night.  It is a fun sing along.  There are about a dozen or more musicians who live here and they get together on Mondays to entertain.  We had a bagpiper last night, and he played Amazing Grace among some other unrecognizable tunes.  He was very entertaining.  Billy, Bonnie's husband is 82 years old, plays lead and is a very good "picker."
He never had any lessons but has been playing since he was a young child.
