January 2, 2017 Monday PM

Welcome to West Texas.  There isn't much here in Midland / Odessa area.  Lots of oil drilling rigs, cotton fields, and wind farms.  This is our third overnight on the way to Arizona. http://www.midessaoilpatchrvpark.com/

We left home on Saturday Dec. 31st at about 11 AM and drove to Joplin, where we celebrated the New Year at he Joplin KOA.  http://koa.com/campgrounds/joplin/  Midnight came at about 9 PM.  We were able to defrost the Silver Star as the thermometer was only predicted to reach 30 degrees overnight.  All systems worked well and we were very comfortable.

Sunday morning came and we set our goal for Grand Prairie, Texas, where we stayed at Trader's Village RV Park. http://tradersvillagervpark.com/grand-prairie/
It was the closest park for our visit with H. E., Lela's brother and Nephew Edward's family.  We didn't arrive as early as we wanted, so we picked up H and went to Edward's house.

We followed him to a restaurant he recommended, but it was closed,  We followed him to the next place, it too was closed.  Then we decided on Red Lobster.  When we arrived there, we found an ambulance and fire truck at the door.  We then went to Olive Garden nearby. Thanks to Lesley for dinner.  Home to bed.

This morning, Monday, we slept in as we were both very tired.  Our road to Odessa was about 5 to 6 hours.  We arrived at about 3:30 PM.  We are set up and just about ready to fix dinner.

Tomorrow's goal is Las Cruces New Mexico and then the next day to Home.
