Thursday Morning

This blog post is coming to you from Hot Springs, Arkansas aboard the USS Silver Star.
We have been in the rain since we left home on Monday Morning, but as the saying goes, we are making lemonade from lemons.

We had a wonderful time in Olive Branch, MS with Lela's sister Joanne and husband Wayne.  They are very gracious and thoughtful and welcomed us on a grand scale. Wayne stood under his umbrella and helped to guide me as I backed down his driveway with the Silver Star. I was actually able to keep it on the concrete!!!

We visited Monday evening and had dinner at a Memphis BBQ restaurant called Corky's.

We had ribs for two, which was delicious especially since the "price was right." They picked up the tab...thank you very much.  They insisted it was an anniversary gift.

Then we returned to their home for Key Lime pie, a good night's sleep and more visiting on Tuesday morning.  We waited until about 11:00 AM to leave as our next destination was only about 5 hours away and we didn't want to deal with Memphis traffic.

Our original destination was Biloxi, MS to an RV resort on the beach.  It has been raining there for over a week and in some areas from there through Louisiana 24 inches of rain has fallen. Everything is located in that area is flooding.  Joanne suggested the Hot Springs area as an alternative, so here we are.

Set up

We arrived here at Catherine's Landing at around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, set up our home and headed into town.  We drove up and down Central Ave. which is where the old town and historic area is located.  Eventually we dined at Buffalo Wild Wings, returned home for TV on the couch, and bedtime.

Wednesday morning came and so we began our 25th Anniversary.

We began with bagels in the Silver Star.  The rain has continued off and on overnight and that was the forecast for Wednesday.

Off we went to the Old town.  There was the regular line up of shop after shop, but the history of the area is very rich with celebrity and infamous characters who vacationed here.

We had lunch at Stubby's BBQ, an interesting place and the sandwich was very good.

Many of the buildings and spas date to the middle 1800's. There is much history of speakeasy and gambling on the upper floors of many historic buildings.

After a day of walking the area we decided on The Brick House for dinner.

Steaks were our choice and we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner there.

After dinner we traveled to the newer part of town for dessert.  Homemade ice cream was the choice.
A waffle cone and two scoops of cotton candy was my choice.  Lela restrained herself with one scoop of turtle and a taste of coffee mocha.

Back to the Silver Star for a movie and to let our food settle.  All in all it was a very enjoyable 25th anniversary day.

Today we intend to go back to Old town and see what we missed yesterday.  Bagels and yogurt again for breakfast and then off on the next adventure.
