March 23, 2018 Friday

We are awaiting some test results from Lela's doctor.  They are slow in coming. She seems to have had another setback, and has resumed antibiotic therapy. We are in a holding pattern as to our departure from here to head home.  Much depends on what the Dr. has to say.

Lela had been feeling pretty good until Wednesday.  We had been walking in the park and visiting with some friends.  She went to the grocery store while I golfed on Wednesday.

Our friends from Idaho, Gary and Louise, are leaving tomorrow.  They had a happy hour on Wednesday afternoon which we attended.  The weather was in the mid 80's which made for a very comfortable evening outdoors.  It is kind of sad that the season is coming to an end.  Most of the Canadians have already headed home to avoid paying taxes in the U.S..

On Tuesday morning I had an appointment to replace the tires (six of them) on the Silver Star.

We had been discussing the fact that we hadn't spent any money on entertainment or sightseeing this year as we stayed close to home. So the tire bill made up for that.

Yesterday, we had made a plan with Dan, a friend from the Airstream Club, to meet in Florence, AZ for breakfast.
Florence is about thirty minutes south of us on AZ 79. Dan is on a ten month tour from St. Charles through about 25 states. He has friends everywhere as he had been involved in Airstream clubs for at least 20 years and been president of local and international groups.  We wish him safe motoring and we'll see him down the road.

Golf on Wed. was kind of so-so. 42-44 with four 3 putt greens. I couldn't make a 4 footer to save my life.

Well, that is about all I have today.  Hopefully we'll get some encouraging news from the Dr. so we can make a plan.

March 13,2018 Tuesday

Lela and I both have doctor appointments today. Mine is just to establish a primary care physician here in AZ.  Lela's is ongoing care as she has two days of antibiotic therapy left. She is still struggling with her problem.

We have been pretty close to home again this week. Except for my golf league, I haven't been far from home, either.  Last week was an OK round of  40/47.  I blew up to go 5 over on the last two holes.

On Friday, my golf buddies wanted to go to Chandler AZ to a Phil Mickelson owned course. It was a beautiful setting with water hazards on 16 of 18 holes.  I donated 4 balls to the canals and lakes for 4 penalty shots, but still managed 45/45 for a scrambling 90.

It was pretty pricey for me but I am glad I played there once.  I won't need to go back.

March 8, 2018 Thursday

March is a birthday month for G'pa's family.
Grandson Ben was 18 on the 6th, My brother Dan was 70 on the 7th, and Grandson Drew is 23 today.  Time is fleeting.

We finally got to Paul Jr.'s house on Tuesday evening to share cake and ice cream and celebrate Ben's birthday.

Ben without his hat!

We had a great time.  Those grandkids are growing fast.

We (G'pa and G'ma) also celebrated Nicolas' 16th birthday, which was January 13th, but we were unable to be there at the time due to our never-ending illness.

Lela had a setback last week and is now on her second round of antibiotics. This course is for ten days.  We are praying that this will get her back to normal (whatever normal is). We appreciate all the prayers and ask that you continue same.

March 1, 2018 Thursday AM

There hasn't been too much to report on the blog since the last post.

Lela is wearing real clothes and not just sweats and robes, so I am ready to move her from my prayer list for the sick to the prayer list for the recovering.  Actually she is doing very well right now as her recovery progresses.  I think she will venture out tomorrow to the store for provisions. Answered prayer!

We've still not seen Paul Jr. and his family.  They are fighting the stomach flu or some similar malady at their house.  I think everyone has been affected now so when the last one is well I hope to see them.

Golf did not go well yesterday.  The weather was cold (59 degrees) and so was I. 44/46 for 90 was one of my worst outings.  I guess I shouldn't have gone to the driving range on Tuesday to practice.  I did, however, win two skins worth $40.00 each, so the day wasn't a total loss.

Hopefully, we will be able to get out and do some Arizona thing next week as the weather is supposed to get back to normal.
